While all of the positive news on the farm and prospect front for the Washington Nationals has been focused on several of their top prospects, most notably Eli Willits and Jarlin Susana, they were not the only ones who made significant noise over the weekend. In fact, there could be a very real argument that the player who had the most impressive performance came from a prospect that is pretty unknown to the common fan.

Of course, the headlines from the weekend were centered around No. 1 overall pick Eli Willits, who has flashed his tremendous potential both offensively and defensively so far at just 17-years-old, and Jarlin Susana, the #3 prospect in the organization who had an impressive week of pitching performances. On the same day that Susana threw his second gem of the week on Sunday, corner outfielder and first baseman Brandon Pimentel made history with the High-A Wilmington Blue Rocks.

With Willits being the story for Low-A Fredericksburg, Susana being the story for AA Harrisburg, and guys like Christian Franklin putting up good numbers for AAA Rochester, High-A Wilmington was in need for a feel-good moment of their own. They got that and more with Pimentel's huge game on Sunday, as he finished the game 4/6 while hitting for the cycle, which even included his first homer of the season.

Pimentel started his cycle with a double in the 1st inning off the right field wall, setting the stage for what would end up being a day he will never forget. In the 2nd inning, Pimentel found the right-center field gap for a triple, also his first of the season, as he got the hardest part of the historic feat accomplished next. He then hit the aforementioned first homer of his season in the 4th inning with a blast to right field, which left him with the easiest part left for him to accomplish. Finally in the 9th inning, Pimentel dropped a single into right field to complete the cycle, which became an awesome moment for the 25-year-old.

This season has been a frustrating one for Pimentel after a promising 2024 season for Fredericksburg, as he has posted just a .195/.265/.268 slash line for a .532 OPS in 45 games for the Blue Rocks. After being signed as a minor league free agent back in 2023, Pimentel has appeared in 166 games in the minors in the Nationals organization, and hopefully he is able to build off this historic performance.

Did you watch Brandon Pimentel hit for the cycle? As always, please let me know on X, @DCBerk.
