Nats’ coaching staff set to return for 2015 season

The Nationals’ coaching staff ain’t broke, so heading into 2015, general manager Mike Rizzo won’t fix it.

On Wednesday morning, the Nats announced that their entire 2014 coaching staff will return for the ’15 season.

That means bench coach Randy Knorr, pitching coach Steve McCatty, hitting coach Rick Schu, third-base coach Bobby Henley, first-base coach Tony Tarasco, bullpen coach Matt LeCroy and defensive coordinator and advance coach Mark Weidemaier will be back on manager Matt Williams‘ bench. Read full article here.

Nationals GM refutes report of Zimmermann trade talks

WASHINGTON — Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo denied Wednesday that his team and the Cubs are in trade discussions regarding right-hander Jordan Zimmermann, who could be a free agent after the 2015 season.

The previous day, The Chicago Sun-Times reported that such discussions were taking place between the two teams at the General Managers Meetings in Arizona.

“It was somebody’s conjecture that had no basis to it and no facts,” Rizzo said. “There was no interaction whatsoever on the subject. How do I react to it? What can you do about it, other than talk to the guy who wrote it and say, ‘What are you doing?'” Read full article here.
