TBA vs. Jimmy Nelson (5-6, 3.92) – 2:10 p.m. ET, MASN2

As we write this preview, it has yet to be officially announced who will make this start in the series finale Sunday afternoon. This would be Stephen Strasburg’s turn in the rotation, but Strasburg missed his last start on Monday against the Dodgers because of an upper back strain.

If it is not Strasburg, the other option to make this outing is Yusmeiro Petit. Petit filled in for Strasburg Monday and put together a good outing. He went six innings, gave up three runs on five hits, struck out five, and walked one in a loss against Clayton Kershaw.

Strasburg is 0-2 with a 5.30 ERA in three career starts against Milwaukee while Petit is 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA in seven career appearances.

Jimmy Nelson has had a bad month of June, but the Brewers have only scored nine runs in the four games that he has pitched. Against the A’s on June 21, Nelson went five innings, gave up one run on six hits, struck out two, and walked one in a no-decision.

During this month, the 27-year-old right-hander is 0-3 with a 7.50 ERA and opponents are hitting .363 against him. Nelson has 37 walks this season (fifth in the National League) and he has induced 10+ groundball outs in four of his last five outings.
