Murphy ended June with a .356 batting average, five home runs, and 19 RBI’s. Over the last 30 games (heaidng into last night), he was tied for the third most hits of any player in the NL with Andrew McCutchen (38). The only two players with more hits than him over that span are Ender Inciarte (40) and former Nats center fielder Denard Span (41).
This season, Murphy has been one of those players that Nats fans want up with men in scoring position. The team as a whole has been good in those spots this year, but Murphy is hitting .377 in RISP spots with three home runs and 39 RBI’s. The 39 RBI’s are second on the team behind Ryan Zimmerman (42).
Against the Mets this year, Murphy is hitting .350 (14-for-47) with a home run and eight RBI’s. His 14 hits are tied with Anthony Rendon for the most against New York this year. Out of those 14 hits, three of them have come against deGrom (all singles).
