Washington Nationals: A.J. Cole impressing down the stretch

A.J. Cole is making a push for the fifth spot in the Washington Nationals’ rotation, while Brian Goodwin has presumably locked up a roster spot. That and more in today’s Daily Washingtonian.

Good morning, Washington Nationals fans!

It is Monday, March 19th, and there are ten days left until the season starts in Cincinnati.

Our next livetweet game is Wednesday afternoon versus the Houston Astros. Then, Thursday night in Port St. Lucie against the New York Mets. The tweeting schedule closes Friday with a prime-time split squad against the Astros.

More from District on Deck

We will feature a piece on A.J. Cole later going through his chances to land the last spot in the starting rotation. He allowed one run while striking out six in the Nats’ 10-0 shellacking at the hands of the St. Louis Cardinals.

(That game never happened. Trust us.)

Around lunchtime, as you eat a leftover corned beef sandwich, co-expert Ron Juckett will go through Brian Goodwin‘s role to start the year. With Victor Robles cooling off, Goodwin’s immediate future is secure.

The Nats return to Jupiter Monday afternoon to face the Marlins and host the Fish on Tuesday. After Adam Eaton‘s success Saturday, we hope he is in the lineup soon.

It would be nice to see Ryan Zimmerman too. At least Michael Taylor played this weekend.

With that, here are some links to read with your morning coffee:
