The Washington Nationals are reeling after a poor series in Toronto. The upcoming series against the Baltimore Orioles couldn’t have come at a better time.

Somehow, the Orioles struggles have only grown since the Nats last saw them in May. They’ve lost 11 of 14 in June, and now posses a 20-50 record in 2018.

Their hottest hitter right now is O’s stalwart Adam Jones, who’s hitting .365 over the last 12 games. Although he doesn’t have the runs and RBIs, that’s largely come from the fact no other Orioles hitters are hitting over .260 in the last week.

They also welcomed back Zach Britton from a lengthy spell out injured and hopes to get back to his old self. So far he’s had three scoreless outing for the birds and is looking to reclaim the closer’s role. He’s going to be the ideal trade candidate for this team

For the Nationals, it will be interesting to see how they handle Michael Taylor during this series. Before playing in American League parks, they were sitting Taylor against right-handed pitchers. But now, as the hottest hitter on the team, he may be pushing Adam Eaton, Juan Soto and Bryce Harper for playing time.

The Washington Nationals badly need a bounce-back series, and the Baltimore Orioles are the perfect opponent for this. Now unlike the Blue Jays series, they need to capitalize on it.
