While the 2026 season might be over for the Washington Nationals, rooting interest should not stop there for fans of the organization. Luckily, one of the Nationals' biggest rivals, the Philadelphia Phillies, was eliminated after a hard-fought 3-game series last night. Unfortunately, the team that took them out was a fellow division rival in the Atlanta Braves, so Nationals fans will have to hope they don't continue to advance.
However, with a handful of former Nationals spread out throughout the postseason, who are some former players to rock the Curly W that you might not have realized were included on playoff roster?
3 former Nationals players you didn't realize were in the postseason
Alex Call
Traded by the Nationals to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the 2025 MLB trade deadline, Alex Call helped the Dodgers win their second straight World Series title last season, collecting four hits in 11 at-bats during the 2025 postseason. With Kyle Tucker added to the Dodgers lineup this season, Call got less playing time and often served as a bench player.
Call played in 88 games for the Dodgers this season and, in 163 at-bats, collected 38 hits, including 9 doubles and a home run, driving in 20 runs for a .233 batting average. He is no star player, but with the Dodgers yet to announce their NLDS roster this year, it is unclear whether Call will be on the roster, especially since end-of-season call-up Josue De Paula might be on the postseason roster instead.
Erick Fedde
Erick Fedde was originally drafted by the San Diego Padres but didn't sign until the Washington Nationals drafted him in the first round of the 2014 draft, and he's now making his first-ever appearance in the MLB Postseason. Fedde, who played for the Nationals from 2017 to 2022, now plays for the White Sox, who swept their Wild Card series vs. the Houston Astros. In parts of 6 seasons with the Nationals, Fedde posted a 21-13 record with a 5.41 ERA, which wasn't great.
The next season, he pitched in the KBO before coming back stateside, where he bounced around teams. Now in his second stint with the White Sox, he pitched two scoreless innings in the 2026 Wild Card series, allowing zero hits, one hit-by-pitch, and striking out three Astros. The White Sox are one of MLB's biggest surprises in 2026, and it is nice to see a former Nationals player shining under the bright lights.
Derek Hill
You might not remember him as a National too well, as he only played in 13 games for the team in 2023, but Derek Hill is now on the Philadelphia Phillies, where he is playing in a win-or-go-home game three vs. the Atlanta Braves to move on to play the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS. As of this writing, the Phillies and Braves are just hours away from facing each other, and we have a chance to see another former National still in the postseason.
Of course, the Phillies also have former Nationals Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and Kyle Schwarber, but this article is about players you might have forgotten were on the Nationals. In his 13 games with Washington, Hill collected eight hits in 47 at-bats, with one double and an RBI. His tenure with the Nationals wasn't memorable, which is probably why many have forgotten his time there.
I hope you enjoyed this look at former Nationals who are still in contention for a World Series title. Of course, there are others, like Blake Treinen too, and now manager of the San Diego Padres, Craig Stammen, who will be playing the Brewers, but this is just a selection of three.
