The Nationals just received new key updates to their rising prospects. Per Baseball America, the team has 4 prospects ranked in their latest update of the MLB's Top 100 Prospects list. All of said prospects have risen in the rankings, with 2025 1st Round, 1st Overall Draft Pick, Eli Willits topping the list. As the future lies in wait in the minors, stars rising in the rankings are always great to see.
24th — Eli Willits
The switch-hitting infielder remains the Nationals' top prospect at just 18 years of age. He continues playing in Single-A Fredericksburg, where Willits has played exclusively throughout his MiLB career. In 2026, Willits had 144 plate appearances with a .276 batting average, .408 on-base percentage, and .428 slugging percentage. He has 20 RBIs, 4 home runs, 27 walks, and 33 strikeouts. While Willits is not blowing the doors off of Single-A, he is not falling short of expectations.
59th — Jarlin Susana
Interestingly, Susana has risen in Baseball America's Top 100 rankings. It is most interesting as Susana is on the 60-Day IL due to a torn lat muscle. The Nationals hope for Susana to return later this summer.
The 22-year-old power pitcher last carded a 3.61 ERA with Double-A Harrisburg. The 6'6" star from the Dominican Republic leads his arsenal with a 4-seam and 2-seam fastball, which hits 100 MPH. He then sets up his breaking ball, which had earned a 59% whiff rate in Double-A ball a year ago.
96th — Ronny Cruz
The Nationals signed the 19-year-old Cruz in the 2025 trade that sent Mike Soroka to the Chicago Cubs. The trade is looking heavily favored towards the Nationals as of now, with Cruz breaking into the Baseball America Top 100.
Cruz was drafted in the 3rd round of the Amateur Draft in 2024 by the Chicago Cubs. He hails from the Dominican Republic, having been promoted from A+ to Single-A Fredericksburg this season. Cruz now has a .333 batting average, .460 on-base percentage, and .627 slugging percentage in Single-A. That includes 3 home runs on 63 plate appearances, making for 14 RBI's and 15 stolen bases with 9 walks and 15 strikeouts — his shallow early weakness.
99th — Seaver King
King also rises into the Top 100 following a stellar Spring Training. The 2024 1st round pick plays in Double-A Harrisburg, where he is off to a start with a .315 batting average, .410 on-base percentage, and .577 slugging percentage. King adds 5 home runs and 22 RBIs in 135 plate appearances. That is among 19 walks and 28 strikeouts.
The Nationals expect King to not yet rise to the majors until 2027. He expects to play shortstop when the day comes, but time will tell with the breakout season that CJ Abrams is currently putting out.
>Top 100 — Harry Ford
Ford has fallen outside of the Top 100 as he struggles mightily in his Triple-A Rochester season. In 109 plate appearances, Ford has a .183 batting average and a .294 on-base percentage. He only has 1 home run and 2 RBI's in his 109 plate appearances. We hope that better days are ahead for the catcher, whom the team got in a deal for Jose Ferrer back in 2025.
