Stadium giveaways are a great way for teams to sell tickets, especially because there is no cost to the team, as big companies pay for the items being given away to market their brand. Since 2016, there has been some super cool ones, but these are some of my favorites.
Disclaimer: This article does not include the 2020 season, as there were no fans in the stadium. This list is in no particular order.
May 16, 2026: Alex Ovechkin Nationals Bobblehead (first 20,000 fans)
Yes, you read that right, that is this Saturday. This bobblehead will honor the great Alex Ovechkin, the legendary goal scorer for the Washington Capitals, who will finish his career as the National Hockey League's all-time leading goal scorer, after breaking Wayne Gretzky's record in 2025. These bobbleheads will go fast, and if you're a fan of the Capitals, this will be a must-have for your collection. I can definitely see these bobbleheads selling for $100+ on eBay starting after this weekend's game against their Beltway rivals, the Orioles.
April 3, 2017: Nationals Magic 8 Ball (first 20,000 fans)
Who doesn't love getting their fortune told? This Magic 8 Ball is the perfect entertaining giveaway, especially for children who attended the game, and is a practical giveaway that kids will use once until it breaks and/or stops working, as stadium giveaways are not meant to be of the highest quality. For the fans who did use them, I am sure it was a lot of fun. I am unsure if the responses the ball gave were baseball/Nationals related or just your usual 8-ball responses.
July 3, 2016: Herbert Hoover Racing President Bobblehead (first 25,000 fans)
While right now, and for most of the Nationals' history of being in Washington, there have been four racing presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham (Abe) Lincoln, and Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt--the four presidents that are on Mount Rushmore, there was a period of time in Nationals history, where there were additional presidents for the GEICO Presidents Race. For a short time, President Herbert Hoover was one of them. This bobblehead marks a period when there was an additional president in the race and offers a unique look at niche moments in team history.
September 30, 2016: Nationals Branded Donkey and Elephant Figurines (10,000 of each)
With the 2016 Presidential Election coming up just a few weeks after this game, the Nationals did a giveaway in the spirit of the election. 10,000 Nationals branded donkeys were given out representing the Democrat party and 10,000 Nationals branded Elephants were given out representing the Republican party. I am unsure whether the figurines were given out at random or if people could pick which one they wanted (while supplies lasted). However, if I were to guess, they were given out at random to avoid crowding at the gate.
May 23 and August 26, 2016: Max Scherzer No-Hitter Bobbleheads #1 and #2 (25,000 for each giveaway)
In 2015, the now, no-doubt future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer threw two no-hitters. In 2016, the Nationals honored those two no-no's with two bobbleheads. While one of these bobbleheads should have been a perfect game bobblehead, if José Tabata didn't intentionally lean into Scherzer's pitch to get hit on June 20, 2015, showing a great deal of unsportsmanship, but I digress. It is already so hard to pitch one no-hitter in your career at the big league level, and these two giveaways in 2016 commemorated the two no-no's Scherzer threw in 2015.
