A brand new MLB Pipeline Top 100 Prospect List released today along with each Major League team's Top 30 prospect list being updated. The Washington Nationals had the first overall selection in the 2025 MLB Draft and selected Eli Willits, a high schooler who allowed the Nats to stretch their draft pool money across the board.
A few of the Washington Nationals' 2025 MLB Draft picks landed on the new Top 30 Prospects list. Let's look at the brand new list, including a collection of recent draft picks from 2024 who have progressed well, and a handful of new Nationals picks from this most recent class.

The month of July had the 2025 MLB Draft and the MLB Trade Deadline, and between the two, the Nats added eleven new prospects to their updated top 30. Talent was added at the top end in the form of Eli Willits and Landon Harmon, and the back end of the list was refined with Marconi German and Josh Randall. Miguel Sime Jr, selected in the fourth round out of high school, has drawn comparisons to Jarlin Susana, the Nationals ' third-ranked prospect. The Nats added lots of talent out of high school, but one of the college bats they selected was Ethan Petry. The right-handed hitter slugged 23 home runs as a freshman at South Carolina. Sean Paul Liñan, acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers at the trade deadline, is just 20 years of age and has pitched at the AAA level. The Nats emphasized acquiring young talent at the trade deadline and executed.

Alex Clemmey, the fifth-ranked prospect, is the hottest player in the Nats organization. The left-handed pitcher has a 2.47 ERA across 19 starts at A+ Wilmington. Clemmey has 113 strikeouts in 87 innings pitched and was promoted to AA Harrisburg on Monday. Acquired last season for Lane Thomas from the Cleveland Guardians, the 20-year-old is quickly making a name for himself in the Nats' minor league system.
Jake Bennett, another left-handed starting pitcher, is the 11th-ranked prospect in the Nats' top 30. The 6'6, 234-pound southpaw is fully recovered from Tommy John surgery and pitching well. Across three levels in 2025, Bennett has a 2.49 ERA in 47 innings of work. Before surgery, the lefty posted a 3.14 ERA in 63 innings pitched. The University of Oklahoma could rise through the ranks quickly in '26.
Yoel Tejeda Jr., a 6-foot-8 starting pitcher who's in his first professional season, has impressed in Fredericksburg. The right-hander recorded a 3.43 ERA in 78.2 innings pitched with a 1.17 WHIP for the FredNats. This was enough to earn him a promotion to A+ Wilmington, where he's struggled to the tune of a 9.72 ERA in his first two starts. Once he gets comfortable in a new environment, look out for Yoel Tejeda Jr. in 2026.

Seaver King, the 10th overall selection in the 2024 MLB Draft, has had a rough start to his minor league career. The Wake Forest product has combined statistics of .244/.293/.631 across two levels this season. King has just 11 extra-base hits in 215 at-bats for AA Harrisburg. Although it's early in King's career, the early returns have not been positive for Nats fans. The clock could be ticking for the shortstop to start performing.
Cristhian Vaquero, a former top prospect in the Nats system, has slid to 27th on the Nats top 30 list. The Dominican Republic native signed for $4.9 million in 2022. Once regarded as "the next big thing", Vaquero has struggled to find his footing in the minor leagues. Still just 20 years old, the outfielder has put together a solid season in '25, hitting .262/.348/.753 in 91 games played. While he's slid down the prospect ranks, it could be that Vaquero required more development than scouts thought. So take it with a grain of salt that Cristhian is trending downwards, because he's still just 20 years old.
Elijah Green, the fifth overall pick in the 2022 Draft, is nowhere to be found on the Nats' top 30 list. Just three years removed from Draft night, the fifth overall selection finds himself sent to Florida to retool his swing. That's just where Elijah Green was three weeks ago. The 21-year-old has 1007 career minor league at-bats and struck out in 490 of them. He has a career .674 OPS with a .215 batting average. None of Green's statistics suggest he is heading in the right direction. It's likely a lost cause with him at this point, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Nats cut ties with him altogether in 2026.
