The Washington Nationals continued their great play in the month of September, as they clinched yet another series victory, this time with the Pittsburgh Pirates being on the opposite end. While the Nationals tried their absolute hardest to lose this game despite their two best hitters in James Wood and CJ Abrams going 0/7 with a walk combined, they were able to hold on for a 4-3 victory.

Rookie Daylen Lile has continued to be scorching hot at the plate, and he has now raised his batting average to .288 on the season and his OPS to .796 in 79 career games. His growth over the season has been extremely promising for a team that has had very few things to be positive about in a lackluster campaign, but Lile should have a starting spot locked up long-term on this team moving forward.

However, the focus of this short piece is not necessarily to talk about Lile and the current state of the Washington Nationals, but how about taking a look at how we got to this point? Well, that might take a little bit too long to bring you up to speed on the present day, but Netflix might very well have just struck gold for Nationals fans.

Last week, a trailer was released for Netflix's new documentary, which will be titled "Who Killed the Montreal Expos?" and should lead right into the beginning of the Washington Nationals. For those who are not as familiar with the roots of the organization and might be newer fans of the Nationals, the team is currently in their 20th season since becoming the Nationals, but before that they weren't even in the United States, as they were known as the Expos for a very long time.

The Expos existed for 36 years as a franchise, and of course were relocated to the Washington DC area in 2005. During the team's time as the Expos, they had some incredible talents that had the pleasure of donning the iconic uniform, including Andre Dawson, Pedro Martinez, Vladimir Guerrero Sr., Larry Walker, and Tim Raines, who are all enshrined in Cooperstown.

All of those players should be part of the documentary in some capacity, whether they are interviewed specifically or discussed, and all of them but Raines and Dawson are already confirmed as having some sort of role in the interview process. Additionally, former manager Felipe Alou, as well as many former fans, journalists, reporters, and employees are set to be interviewed as well. Overall, it should shed a lot of light on the ultimate demise of the Expos, and what led to their exit from Montreal before the Nationals came along.

We do not yet know the format of the documentary, whether it will be a series or one long episode, but one thing is for certain - you will definitely want to tune in and check it out when it releases on October 21, 2025.
