DoD Content Recap: April 22-28
By Aaron Somers

Easily the story of the week came on its final day, as Bryce Harper made his long anticipated MLB Debut on Saturday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chad Billingsley. Harper went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI. He looked pretty comfortable at the plate, showed some quality patience, and made a fantastic throw to the plate from left field that almost saved a run late in the game.
While we knew Harper would arrive at the Major Leagues this year, there never was an expectation that this would happen quite so soon. Yet, with the mounting injuries this team has started to suffer from, a move seemed necessary and the plan for Harper’s arrival was expedited.
In 20 games at Triple-A Harper was struggling at the plate, batting just .250/.333/.375 with a home run and 3 RBI in 82 plate appearances. The expectations for Harper are high, there’s no denying that, but it needs to be remembered that he’s just 19 years old. He’s going to need some patience before he’s fully developed into the superstar we’re expecting him to be.
